U.S. Allies Turn to Iran Amid Doubts Over American Security Guarantees

On September 15, former U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated in an interview with Bloomberg that U.S. allies in the Middle East have lost confidence in Washington’s ability to guarantee their security. “The current course of the conflict with Iran makes it clear to our partners in the region that they cannot always count on us when it comes to their protection,” he said. “And what’s the result? They are interested in negotiating with Tehran and possibly making deals with Tehran.”
