Two children aged five and six have been hospitalized in Israel following an incident where they consumed chocolate containing hallucinogenic mushrooms during a family vacation, according to hospital officials.
The children were taken to the Emergency Department for Children at Galilee Medical Center with severely dilated pupils and symptoms of hallucinations. After initial assessments, medical staff identified possible poisoning from psychoactive substances found in certain mushrooms.
Following consultation with the National Poison Information Center, doctors noted that such mushrooms can cause hallucinations, elevated blood pressure, and in severe cases, seizures and heart disorders.
Due to concerns about potential new symptoms, both children were hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit for continuous monitoring of their condition.
