On September 19, US President Donald Trump barred journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from accessing the White House. The action, which he described as targeting “fake news,” followed reports by these outlets.
In response, television networks that form the White House press pool — ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC — suspended live coverage of Trump’s activities beginning September 21.
The three news organizations filed a joint lawsuit against the administration on September 20, alleging the ban violated the First Amendment to the US Constitution by restricting press access based on reporting content.
On September 21, during Trump’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new White House helipad, his speech was inaudible due to helicopter engine noise. Television networks were unable to broadcast live events with clear audio at that time.
