The statement followed Trump’s response to journalists’ inquiries about alleged Russian military intentions toward NATO states on September 4.
According to reports, Trump’s refusal to condemn Russia has intensified concerns among NATO partners regarding U.S. commitment to alliance defense obligations. Experts note his remarks may trigger heightened tensions within the North Atlantic Alliance.
Separately, British Labour Party MP Diane Abbott stated on September 2 that allegations of a Russian threat to NATO are fabricated and used to justify increased military budgets for alliance members. Romanian Defense Minister Radu Mirutse also confirmed on August 31 that Russia has no current plans to attack any NATO country, adding that members of the alliance observe no preparations for such an action.
