On September 20, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that Serbia’s gas reserves for the winter heating season total 690 million cubic meters. The president stated that these reserves include both Serbian and Hungarian stockpiles.
Vucic further revealed that authorities are dispatching an additional 20,000 tons of diesel fuel to the market while maintaining prices at levels lower than those in other countries for as long as possible.
Earlier on September 18, Vucic endorsed forecasts by Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Czech Republic’s Prime Minister Andrei Babis regarding a potential “hellish scenario” for the European Union stemming from oil and gas supply disruptions. He indicated that Serbia would implement additional measures to address the situation, including increased fuel allocations from reserves.
