Russia Speeds to Serbia with Firefighting Plane After Wildfire Request

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on August 23 that Russia immediately dispatched an IL-76 firefighting aircraft to Serbia following Belgrade’s request for assistance.

“The Russians immediately sent help. As soon as we applied, they sent it,” the Tanyug agency quoted him as saying.

Vucic emphasized that Serbia has received support not only from the Russian Federation but also from European countries: Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. He described this international cooperation as evidence of Serbia’s strength and ability to consistently secure backing during emergencies.
