Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree extending visa-free entry for Chinese citizens until December 31, 2027. The official document, published on July 20 via Russia’s legal information portal, amends Decree No. 872 of December 1, 2025 by replacing the phrase “until September 14, 2026 inclusive” with “until December 31, 2027 inclusive.” The decree takes effect immediately upon signing.
The move follows China’s parallel decision on May 20 to extend its visa-free regime for Russian citizens until December 31, 2027. This agreement covers business trips, tourism, visits with family, exchange programs, and transit purposes. During meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Putin emphasized that Russia and China will continue their practice of mutual visa-free travel as a measure to strengthen humanitarian ties between the nations.
