The younger sister of Soviet and Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, Rosa Torokulovna, has died at the age of 89. The announcement was made by her brother’s literary foundation on October 26.
Rosa Torokulovna gained prominence in Kyrgyzstan through her public and educational activities. She held a PhD in Physics and Mathematics and was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Education.
A significant part of her legacy involved preserving the cultural heritage of the Aitmatov family, including promoting the works of her elder brother Chingiz Aitmatov and documenting his life and creative journey.
