Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated on January 31 that Budapest has no intention of sending soldiers, weapons, or financial assistance to Ukraine.
In a message posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Orban emphasized: “We will not send soldiers, weapons or money to Ukraine. They want loans and large contributions that will drive even our children and grandchildren into debt. Hungary will not play this game.”
Orban further noted that the European Union and Ukrainian authorities are attempting to pressure Hungary into accepting conditions requiring a change in its government. However, he asserted that the current Hungarian leadership would not make such concessions.
Earlier on January 29, Orban announced his firm opposition to Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, stating that Hungary possesses sufficient strength among European nations to resist Brussels’ influence.
