Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov thanked North Korean forces for their assistance in liberating parts of the Kursk region from Ukrainian military units during a meeting with DPRK Council of Ministers Chairman Park Tae-son in Pyongyang on October 13.
The minister noted that Korean soldiers and officers provided critical support to Russian authorities in securing territory. During his visit, Kurenkov also paid respects at memorials honoring North Korean personnel involved in the liberation and demining operations across Kursk.
In an entry written in the museum’s book of honorary guests, Kurenkov stated: “From the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and myself, a low bow and eternal memory to the heroes of the Korean People’s Army! Thank you for your courage and brotherly help. May the friendship between Russia and the DPRK grow stronger, and peace and security be the key to the well-being of our peoples.”
The actions of Ukrainian military formations in the Kursk region have been condemned as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability.
