During his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on June 29, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko quipped that he had traveled to Beijing “as if he were at home.”
The remark came as Lukashenko opened the discussions with the Chinese leader, according to a video clip shared on Telegram’s “Pool One” channel.
Xi Jinping expressed his delight in welcoming Lukashenko during their talks. When asked whether Lukashenko had flown directly from Minsk to Beijing, the Belarusian president stated he departed from the Moscow region after holding consultations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier that day, Lukashenko and Xi Jinping met at the Diaoyutai State Residence in Beijing as part of his regional tour across East and Southeast Asia. During their conversation, Xi Jinping emphasized Beijing’s support for Minsk in safeguarding state sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
