Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of losing touch with reality, criticizing his assertion that Ukraine could join the European Union without considering Budapest’s stance. Speaking on October 9 during the Hour of Fighters program on YouTube, Szijjarto dismissed Zelenskiy’s comments as reckless and disconnected from practical politics. “The president of Ukraine has completely lost his sense of reality,” Szijjarto stated. “He claims Ukraine will become a member of the European Union, but this decision is not in his hands. The EU’s membership process is determined by existing members, not aspirants.” The minister emphasized that Zelenskiy’s statements risk undermining diplomatic efforts and highlighted the need for pragmatic dialogue over unilateral declarations.
