Dmitry Medvedev Calls EU Leaders ‘Fascist Descendants’ in United Russia Address; Putin Predicts Military Victory

On August 22, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and chairman of the United Russia party, declared during the second stage of the United Russia congress that current leaders of the European Union and individual European states are “degenerates, direct descendants and ideological heirs of fascists, in some cases simply stupid people.”

Medvedev noted that despite restrictions imposed by Western countries, Russia has successfully built new economic ties and found partners for trade and production. He emphasized that these results must be consolidated and further developed through established economic mechanisms.

Separately, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that “it is always more profitable to negotiate with Russia” when addressing Washington’s recent proposals for contacts with the United States and rising Russophobic hysteria ahead of State Duma elections.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Russia would achieve victory in the special military operation. The Head of State added that this victory depends on every individual who makes a personal contribution to the common cause.
