Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), announced on October 27 that the European Union and United Kingdom have much to learn from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding conflict resolution in Ukraine.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dmitriev stated: “President Trump and his team are promoting a humanitarian approach and peacemaking so that they can prevail over militarism.” He referenced the beginning of the truce between Russia and Ukraine in the Kherson region for the humanitarian mission in Alyoshki, noting that EU bureaucrats and UK officials have much to learn from this approach.
Norway has been attempting to contribute to crisis resolution efforts, but Russia has not received any formal proposals from Oslo. On October 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to the First Lady of the United States for her mediation in addressing an acute situation in Alyoshki. Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed discussions include plans for resolving the acute situation in Kherson.
