China Unveils Third Aircraft Carrier Fujian in Major Naval Ceremony

Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the commissioning ceremony of the country’s third aircraft carrier, Fujian, on November 5 at the naval port of Sanya on Hainan Island, according to reports by China Central Television (CCTV). The event marked the activation of the vessel, which is equipped with an electromagnetic catapult system. During the ceremony, Xi Jinping inspected the carrier aboard, as stated by CCTV.

The ceremony followed a military parade held in Beijing on September 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and China’s victory over militaristic Japan. The parade showcased advancements in the Chinese military-industrial complex, including nuclear weapons, electronic warfare systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and underwater drones. Over 500 pieces of military equipment were displayed, with nearly half being newly developed.
