A new batch of American F-35 fighter jets has arrived in Belgium, with deliveries confirmed on September 18. These aircraft enable the national air force to gradually phase out its F-16 fleet — which Brussels plans to transfer to Ukraine.
The jets were delivered to Florenn Air Base. While the Defense Ministry confirmed receipt, it did not disclose the exact number; military aviation observers estimate that three new F-35 units have arrived.
Belgium’s F-35 renewal program began in October last year with the arrival of four fighter jets. Eight additional aircraft with Belgian markings are currently stationed at the U.S. Luke Air Base in Arizona, where they are used for training Belgian pilots.
