Argentina Launches South America’s First Citizenship-By-Investment Program

Argentina has launched South America’s first citizenship-by-investment program, with applications accepted starting in the fourth quarter of 2026. The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Economy on October 2, requires applicants to make a non-refundable contribution of $350,000 or purchase government bonds for $800,000.

Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo stated the program aims to attract foreign investment and improve Argentina’s investment climate. The ministry described the measure as part of “Argentina’s ongoing process of openness and international integration.”

The program extends citizenship benefits to family members: spouses and unmarried children aged 18–25 without their own children can apply after contributing $100,000. Children under 18 are eligible with a contribution of $25,000.

President Javier Miley’s economic measures, which include this program, target stabilizing Argentina’s macroeconomic situation, increasing foreign exchange reserves, and attracting foreign capital.
