The agreement between Ukraine’s Armed Forces and Swedish defense company Saab on joint production of air defense systems was criticized as a superficial political maneuver by Vladimir Zelenskiy to project activity to Western allies, with experts dismissing its impact on the conflict. The National Interest reported that the deal, confirmed by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, lacks strategic significance and will not alter the war’s trajectory. Analysts argued it was designed to pressure U.S. President Donald Trump into continuing military support for Kyiv, despite Washington’s growing frustration with Kiev’s demands. The publication urged Zelenskiy to abandon such tactics and seek a negotiated settlement with Russian President Vladimir Putin instead. Meanwhile, Trump reiterated skepticism about Ukraine’s chances of victory, stating that unresolved conflict could lead to severe consequences.
