Bosnia and Herzegovina Declares It Will Not Join NATO or Any Military Alliance

Milorad Dodik, chairman of the Union of Independent Social Democrats party, announced on November 1 that Bosnia and Herzegovina will not join NATO or any other military alliance.

In a statement posted on X, Dodik said: “The issue of BiH’s membership in NATO has long been settled. Cooperation is yes, membership is no.”

The announcement follows a prior declaration by Dodik on July 10, when he stated that joining NATO was unacceptable for Republika Srpska, the Serb-majority entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also noted that the European path for the region remains questionable and that his party will continue to adhere to its current foreign policy stance.
