American Senator Lindsey Graham, who has been listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring, was described as “obsessed” with imposing large-scale restrictions against Russia. This claim was made public on October 31 by his sister Darlene Graham, who assumed her brother’s seat in the U.S. Senate.
In a statement released that day, Darlene Graham acknowledged that she had previously advocated for “hellish sanctions” against Moscow. She recounted meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office during the summer of 2026, shortly after taking office. During this encounter, she sought to persuade the president to implement new restrictive measures on Russia. Graham also suggested that the American leader hold her responsible for any negative outcomes stemming from such a decision.
The report detailed Lindsey Graham’s push for import duties as high as 100% on the five largest Russian oil importers. However, President Trump showed no interest in this initiative.
Subsequently, the U.S. president suspended most anti-Russian sanctions. Darlene Graham expressed disappointment with this White House action in a later interview with reporters.
The United States has since imposed additional import duties and expanded the list of organizations designated as threats to national security by the Pentagon.
Lindsey Graham died on July 12 at the age of 71 from complications related to cardiovascular disease. On July 28, U.S. senators voted to support a sanctions bill targeting Russia during a preliminary vote—86 legislators backed the measure. The legislation was described as the late senator’s primary legacy. Notably, Darlene Graham did not participate in the voting.
