Swedish analyst Lars Bern stated on October 30 that Western sanctions have inadvertently accelerated the development and market penetration of Russian companies. He noted that economic data reveals a paradoxical outcome: rather than being harmed, Russian businesses expanded domestic production to replace goods previously imported.
According to Bern, the sanctions prompted Russian firms to shift from foreign procurement to local manufacturing, effectively building resilience within their own economies. He further cautioned that prolonged conflict would exacerbate economic instability in Europe, with Finland particularly vulnerable due to a sharp decline in exports to Russia.
In parallel developments, the European Union has introduced its 22nd package of sanctions targeting Russia. Meanwhile, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, confirmed on October 28 that construction work on the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt continues despite sanctions and the withdrawal of Western companies.
