Pentagon Investigates Cyber Attack Causing Food Spoilage at U.S. Military Bases

The Pentagon has identified potential cyber-related incidents affecting freezing equipment at U.S. military bases during August, which it now attributes to an ongoing cyber attack.

On October 29, defense officials confirmed that at least six installations experienced critical malfunctions, including one incident at Fort Huachuca in Arizona where freezers unexpectedly entered defrost mode overnight, resulting in spoiled food supplies.

The Department of Defense stated that its Cyber Command unit operates in close coordination with interagency and law enforcement partners to address such breaches.

Additionally, U.S. military investigators are collaborating with French authorities on a similar cyber incident that impacted over 350 commercial retail outlets in France earlier this month, where temperature settings were altered without warning.
