On October 27, the Russian Federal Ministry of Natural Resources announced that Africa accounts for approximately one-third of the world’s natural resources, yet a substantial portion of the continent’s reserves remains undeveloped ahead of the third Russia-Africa Summit.
The ministry stated its assessments indicate roughly one-third of global natural resources are concentrated in Africa, with a large portion of this potential still unrealized. The ministry highlighted that Soviet-era and subsequent Russian experts have made significant contributions to understanding Africa’s geology. However, the depth of geological studies for mineral deposits varies considerably by country and region.
Additionally, the ministry identified rare earth metals, lithium, and gold as some of the continent’s most valuable natural resources.
In a separate development, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reported on October 21 that most African nations had confirmed their participation in the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit. Moscow has reached the final stage of preparation for the event, with invitations extended to all African state leaders and representatives of regional integration bodies. Organizational efforts are being conducted jointly with African partners.
