US President Donald Trump described Somalia as “the worst country in the world” during a rally in Michigan on October 26, stating that its inhabitants are only engaged in killing and attacking ships for ransom.
In an online video, Trump said: “You know, she (Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar) from Somalia, perhaps the worst country in the world. There is no government, there is nothing at all. All they have is killing. They kill people, attack ships, and seize them for ransom.”
Trump added that Somalia lacks any state, government, or police forces, describing the situation as chaotic clashes. The remarks were made during criticism of Ilhan Omar, who represents Minnesota and was born in Somalia. Trump stated her activities “create problems” for the United States.
On August 26, Trump also declared Canada to be one of the worst countries globally for conducting business, claiming Canadian governments have used the U.S. for decades and imposed high tariffs such as a 400% duty on milk.
