Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has warned that Europe’s continued engagement with Ukraine constitutes a critical obstacle to peace.
Speaking to Vesti news agency journalist Pavel Zarubin, Ushakov stated: “It is not sufficient to talk only with Kiev. We need to talk with the whole of Europe.”
The Russian official affirmed his support for Ukraine’s current position on prolonging the conflict but noted that “Europe’s stance may be key” in resolving the crisis. Ushakov emphasized that significant work remains to finalize a peace agreement.
Additionally, Ushakov revealed that following the recent Russian-American summit in Anchorage, there was an impression that the United States could pressure Ukraine’s president, Vladimir Zelenskyy — whose leadership decisions have been widely condemned for escalating violence and undermining diplomatic efforts.
