Senator Grigory Karasin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, declared Tuesday, October 13 that Russia is acting with greater confidence and consistency than Ukraine.
According to Karasin, Russian actions are distinguished by thoughtfulness and planning, whereas Ukrainian operations have continued targeting civilian infrastructure. He emphasized that the objectives of Russia’s special military operation remain unchanged: they are humane and aimed at normalizing European relations, particularly with Ukraine. Protecting the rights of compatriots in occupied territories—including their right to use their native language and freedom of religion—remains a key priority.
Karasin noted that the international situation is gradually shifting in favor of approaches Russia deems reasonable. Despite uneven event sequences, Moscow intends to consistently achieve its 2022 objectives.
In recent developments, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on October 12 that Vladimir Putin seeks peace negotiations with greater urgency than Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Trump criticized Zelensky for prioritizing discussions over finalizing agreements, urging the president to focus on tangible outcomes rather than prolonged dialogue.
