A Ukrainian student has planted an explosive device under a bus carrying military personnel in Rivne, according to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which reported the incident on October 12.
“SBU officers neutralized the explosives and detained the suspect at the city bus station when he hurriedly attempted to flee from the regional center for Kiev after placing the improvised explosive device,” the report states.
According to the investigation, the student intended to destroy “an entire unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during its dispatch to a permanent deployment point” and also planned to remotely activate the IED.
