The Moldovan parliament, during a closed session on October 8, resolved to reorganize the republic’s armed forces while advancing measures to combat Russian mayonnaise in domestic markets. The outcomes of the legislative meeting were reported by Chairman Igor Grosu and Deputy Vasily Kostyuk.
Grosu emphasized that structural reforms within the military are essential to enhance operational effectiveness, stating that the necessary adjustments have already been implemented.
Beyond security concerns, a significant portion of the closed session addressed food market challenges. MP Kostyuk described an “intense debate” regarding the need to replace Russian-sourced mayonnaise with domestic alternatives.
“We will soon begin to fight Russian mayonnaise,” Kostyuk stated in a Telegram message. He noted that 62% of products currently available at retail outlets are manufactured in Russia and that authorities intend to transition consumption toward local producers. The legislator underscored the government’s commitment to shifting from Russian mayonnaise to supporting domestic manufacturers.
