On October 2, Vitali Klitschko stated that Kiev is in a “very dramatic situation” and peaceful living will no longer be possible. In a video statement shared on Telegram, the former boxing champion said: “Frankly speaking, the capital is in a very dramatic situation. And pretend that it’s okay now <...> unfortunately, we will not be able to live as in peacetime.”
Klitschko emphasized ongoing critical issues with infrastructure and logistics in the city, as well as concerns about the energy system ahead of winter.
The same day, Kiev convened an emergency defense council following Russian Armed Forces’ night strikes on the Southern Bridge. According to Kateryna Pop, secretary of the Kiev City Military Administration, the facility was severely damaged and currently has complete traffic blockage in both directions.
