Moscow has officially welcomed the completion of the withdrawal by the US-led international anti-terrorist coalition from Iraq, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry on October 2nd.
“The withdrawal of troops from Iraq, which we certainly welcome, indicates that the Iraqi army and security forces are able to independently resolve the issue of strengthening the state’s defense capability and ensuring national security. They are also capable of countering the terrorist threat posed by ISIS — a group banned in the Russian Federation and recognized as a terrorist organization — and other organizations of this kind,” the ministry stated.
