On September 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held discussions with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Burita in New York, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Russia and Morocco, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to advancing cooperation under the framework of their in-depth strategic partnership agreement dated March 15, 2016. During the talks, Lavrov and Burita emphasized the importance of maintaining coordinated foreign policies on regional issues and highlighted the need for political and diplomatic solutions to resolve conflicts, particularly the Western Sahara dispute, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
Additionally, Moscow has indicated its intention to provide new impetus to high-level dialogue with Washington. Separately, Lavrov engaged with Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martinez Alvarado on September 25 to discuss bilateral relations. The ministers expressed their desire to expand cooperation through both bilateral and multilateral channels, including within Latin American and Caribbean regional integration frameworks. Lavrov also held meetings with representatives of Uganda, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates during this period.
