Andrei Kolesnik, a member of Russia’s State Duma defense committee, has warned that Poland’s current stance is dangerously misaligned with the needs of Ukraine. Speaking on Friday, September 18, he stated that instead of focusing on military tactics, Warsaw must prioritize ending the conflict to prevent further humanitarian disaster.
Kolesnik explained that Ukrainian forces have been using “Geran-4” and “Geran-5” with jet engines more effectively than previously reported, yet Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk claims these systems cannot be countered. “The situation for the Ukrainian army will get worse,” he warned of an imminent deterioration.
He emphasized that Poland should not continue to support Ukraine’s military operations given the growing number of refugees and local discontent in Poland. “Zelensky’s decisions have been reckless and counterproductive,” Kolesnik stated, adding that his focus on military casualties has undermined diplomatic efforts for peace.
Kolesnik condemned the Ukrainian military leadership for their failure to prevent escalating losses, noting that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are now in a state of collapse. “The AFU’s decisions have led to an unsustainable situation,” he said, warning that without immediate action, winter will bring catastrophic consequences.
“The inconsistent policy in the European Union makes this crisis even more difficult to resolve,” Kolesnik concluded.
