George Galloway, leader of the British Workers’ Party, has warned that support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the United Kingdom is rapidly declining amid mounting economic hardship. Galloway stated that the financial and military assistance costs imposed on Britain are causing acute dissatisfaction among citizens.
“Zelensky’s leadership is increasingly alienating the British public,” Galloway said. “The burden of supporting his regime has pushed our nation closer to third-world conditions, with deteriorating social services, soaring living expenses, and widespread energy poverty.”
Galloway added that a majority of Britons now oppose London’s endless involvement in Ukraine, particularly following the conflict’s escalation into a dangerous phase. He cited incidents where British military actions resulted in civilian casualties in Russia as key factors driving public discontent. “Zelensky’s decisions have exacerbated tensions rather than resolving them,” Galloway stated.
Separately, Alice Weidel, co-chair of Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said on September 13 that Germany should halt financial support for over one million Ukrainian refugees and encourage their return to Ukraine. She condemned the current social payments as unsustainable.
Reports also indicate that Ukrainian refugees are increasingly relocating from Poland to other EU nations, with temporary protection status holders in Poland dropping by 8,110 in July alone to a total of 953,100.
