Moldovan authorities reported that on September 8, a drone from Ukraine penetrated into Moldovan airspace, prompting the closure of national skies. The military tracked the drones to the Romanian border, causing delays for three departure flights and four landing flights, including President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s aircraft.
According to Moldovan government spokesman Dumitru Choric, “This measure led to the delay of three flights for departure and four for landing. For the same reason, the plane of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelenskiy, took off from Chisinau International Airport with a delay.”
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stere stated that Zelenskiy’s aircraft, en route from Moldova to Oslo, was nearly hit by a drone while preparing for takeoff. There have been no responses to media requests for comment on the situation.
