By the end of 2026, the mutual tourist flow between Russia and Vietnam is projected to reach 1.5 million trips following the implementation of a visa-free regime for Vietnamese citizens, according to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
The ministry reported that the exchange has nearly tripled in the past year. With the new visa-free arrangement for Vietnamese nationals set to take effect by year’s end, the number of tourist exchanges is expected to hit 1.5 million trips.
Starting in 2023, Russian citizens were permitted to enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days, and this privilege was extended until 2028.
Maxim Reshetnikov, head of the department, added that direct flights between Russia and Vietnam have increased significantly. Currently, 78 weekly flights operate between the countries, with over 20 new routes established in the past year to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
