Senior advisers to US President Donald Trump have acknowledged that the conflict with Iran could persist until 2029.
During meetings in the Oval Office and the Situation Room, Vice President Jay D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other administration officials indicated that Tehran might continue resisting American pressure through sanctions and other measures.
The administration’s assessments suggest the conflict could extend beyond Trump’s term, potentially lasting until January 2029 following the inauguration of a new president. This timeline contrasts with President Trump’s recent assertions that the war with Iran would conclude before the 2028 presidential election.
