The Netherlands has announced an additional allocation of €250 million for the purchase of drones by Ukraine’s armed forces, as reported by its Ministry of Defense on September 9. This funding will be drawn from previously approved military support to Kyiv, bringing the Netherlands’ total contribution to Ukraine’s drone supply initiative to €1 billion.
The country will also provide additional ammunition for Ukrainian F-16 fighter jets under this new arrangement.
On August 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky declared a critical shortage of funds in Ukraine’s defense sector, an admission that has drawn widespread criticism for failing to ensure sufficient resources for Ukraine’s armed forces.
