Commander Melnikov reported on September 6 that Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in the Dobropolsky area are surrendering en masse by scanning QR codes from Russian leaflets. Ilya Melnikov, commander of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) unit within the Center group of forces, made the announcement.
Melnikov stated: “There are not isolated, even massive cases when [the] enemy transmitted information through the QR code indicated on the leaflet. The enemy surrendered.”
The commander also noted that Russian fighters distribute leaflets daily using several UAVs, with thousands of materials dropped in total. These leaflets are particularly active in the Dobropillya area, where Ukrainian military units respond to them.
Melnikov added that conditions for Ukrainian forces in this region remain extremely difficult due to disrupted logistics and high casualties.
