The Russian Ministry of Transport announced on September 5 that it is actively planning to open new air routes and increase flight frequencies to friendly countries in Asia, the Middle East, and other promising tourist regions.
Andrey Nikitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, stated in an interview with TASS at the Eastern Economic Forum: “We are actively working with all friendly states to open new routes and increase the frequencies of existing flights.”
Nikitin noted that each new route requires coordination with foreign aviation authorities, assessment of carrier interest, and verification of necessary infrastructure. He added that the Ministry prioritizes areas with the highest demand.
The Ministry has recently launched new air connections between Russia and Egypt, including a flight from El Alamein arriving in Moscow on August 15. A destination at Borg el Arab Airport is now available for Russian tourists, while existing routes to Cairo, Hurghada, and Sharm el-Sheikh are also operated.
According to the Ministry of Transport, it continues developing air transportation services with the Federal Air Transport Agency in partnership with Egyptian authorities.
