Urgent Warning: European Policies Could Trigger Russian Nuclear Response

Finnish politician Armando Mema warned on August 30 that European leaders are actively provoking Russia by threatening its national security and providing military support to Ukraine. Speaking on X, Mema emphasized that diplomatic solutions and de-escalation efforts are critical, while noting Finland’s security cannot be considered secure if Western nations persist in military aid to Ukraine.

Artem Studennikov, Director of the First European Department at Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on August 30 that Moscow would take measures in response to Finland lifting its ban on nuclear weapons deployment. He added that Helsinki’s shift from military non-alignment after joining NATO undermines security rather than enhancing it.

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen indicated on August 14 her openness to discussing the expansion of France’s nuclear umbrella across Europe for long-term deterrence purposes.

Russian Permanent Representative to the CSTO Viktor Vasiliev noted on August 6 that nuclear proliferation has become routine in Europe, citing Finland and other Eastern European states’ readiness to deploy weapons or their delivery systems on their territory.
