In Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region, a man abducted a five-year-old boy from the courtyard of an apartment building on Tushinskaya Street and took him to his home under false pretenses on the evening of August 24, 2026. The incident was reported by the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in Kemerovo region on August 25.
Investigators, alongside criminologists and Ministry of Internal Affairs personnel, identified the suspect. He was detained, and the child was returned to his parents. A criminal case was opened against a previously convicted man under Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for the abduction of a known minor.
The suspect confessed to the crime after his arrest. Forensic medical examinations have been initiated to establish the full circumstances, and investigators have examined the scene while questioning witnesses.
Separately, on August 3 in Kurgan, a man under the influence of alcohol attacked his one-year-old daughter and beat her to death. The child’s mother managed to stop him and called emergency services. The girl was taken to the hospital in serious condition but died from the injuries despite immediate medical intervention.
