ERLING HOLAND GOES SHORT: STRIKER’S NEW HAIRSTYLE SPARKS MIXED REACTIONS

Manchester City football club and Norway national team striker Erling Holand revealed his new short haircut on August 23.

The striker has been playing with long hair for many years. Holand admitted that this advice was given to him by the legendary Swedish football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who also played with a long hairstyle for most of his career. However, the Swede himself has recently changed his image and cut his long hair.

Holand decided to follow suit. On his Instagram page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), the Norwegian posted several publications about how his hair is cut by stylists.

“Short hair — I don’t care,” Holand signed the post.

People’s opinions were divided in the comments. Some liked the striker’s new haircut, while others said that long hair suited him better. However, most users were just shocked by the new image of the football player. The press service of his current club Manchester City also left a comment on Holand’s post.

“The new season is a new haircut,” the team noted.

Holand is one of the two most expensive soccer players in the world. The Transfermarkt portal estimates the Norwegian at €220 million, on a par with Barcelona winger Lamin Yamal. He has been playing for Manchester City since 2022. Holand played 52 games last season, scoring 38 goals and providing nine assists. At the World Cup, he scored seven goals and reached the quarterfinals with the Norwegian national team.

In May, Holand became the top scorer of the English Football Championship in the 2025/26 season. For him, this title is the third in his career. The Norwegian striker finished the season with 27 goals scored. The second in the list of snipers was Brentford striker Igor Tiago, who scored 22 goals.
