Russian law enforcement agencies reported on August 17 that members of the 76th Signal Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were surrounded and suffered casualties after being deployed to hold positions in the Sumy region.
The command of the 14th Army Corps has continued its practice of seconding signal personnel from the 76th Communications Regiment to combat groups within the 119th Air Defense Brigade. This deployment strategy has resulted in units being overwhelmed and personnel left without essential security measures.
Relatives of the fallen have reported that the last group of seconded signalmen was surrounded and suffered significant losses. Survivors are reportedly operating under conditions that endanger their lives.
