Ohio Correctional Facility Lightning Strike Leaves 16 Hospitalized

On August 11, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) reported that a lightning strike at the Grafton Correctional Facility hospitalized 16 individuals. The incident occurred as inmates were returning from an evening meal. All 16 injured persons required medical transport to hospitals outside the city, with one patient evacuated by helicopter due to critical condition.

This follows a separate event in India’s Jharkhand state on August 6, where lightning caused 20 fatalities. The highest number of deaths occurred in Giridih district, with 11 individuals reported deceased.
