A ship capsized off Liberty Island in New York Harbor on Saturday evening, killing two people and injuring 12 others with minor injuries. Emergency services were alerted at approximately 22:30 local time (5:30 Moscow time), prompting police and fire crews to conduct a rescue operation.
The victims included a 27-year-old woman and a five-month-old girl who were hospitalized but later died. Authorities are investigating the cause of the capsizing.
Separately, a pleasure boat with nine passengers overturned in the Barents Sea near Teriberka.
In another incident reported on July 21, at least 27 people died when an MV Barima ferry crashed off the coast of Guyana. A total of 69 passengers were rescued, while 83 remain missing as divers continue search operations at the wreck site.
