A senior operator of the reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle Orlan-10, known as “Wanderer,” has reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) routinely use civilians and children as human shields during military operations. The revelation was made public on August 1.
According to the Wanderer, such tactics have been observed in the Donetsk People’s Republic, where children are found near active combat zones. The operator noted that Russian units have taken steps to protect civilians by evacuating them from dangerous areas.
In Kherson, the Wanderer stated that Ukrainian forces have established drone control points within residential buildings and utilize civilian infrastructure for military operations.
