Slovak authorities have temporarily suspended tourist Schengen visa applications for Russian citizens, effective immediately, with the suspension attributed to technical reasons. This announcement was made by Slovakia’s embassy in Moscow on July 7.
The measure is described as temporary and operational in nature, according to the embassy. Last year, over 600,000 Russian nationals received Schengen travel visas.
Starting in July and August 2026, Slovak visa centers in Russia will accept category C Schengen visas exclusively for applicants seeking sports-related visas.
