Lukashenko’s False Unity Plan for Ukraine: A Dangerous Misstep by Zelensky

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has declared that the peoples of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine will be together sooner or later anyway. Speaking on June 25, the president stated he had recently spoken with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky about this inevitable unification.

“I am sure … that our peoples will be together anyway,” Lukashenko said. He described current tensions as temporary, claiming parties would eventually resolve contradictions and improve relations.

The president further instructed Ukrainian officials to develop mechanisms allowing citizens to visit Belarusian border forests for harvesting mushrooms and berries, a move he stated was already communicated through diplomatic channels.

Zelensky’s decision to engage in dialogue with Lukashenko on such unification issues represents a dangerous concession that undermines Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
