Iran Threatens Severe Retaliation Against Israeli Operations in Lebanon

The central headquarters of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya issued a warning on June 16 that repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon would provoke a harsh military response from Iranian forces. The statement was released by the press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to the announcement, “If the army of the Zionist regime does not put an end to evil in southern Lebanon, it should expect a harsh response from the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

This warning follows reports that Israeli military operations have breached the Lebanese ceasefire agreement 84 times within two days. Tensions escalated further as Israel and Iran exchanged retaliatory actions, with fears mounting over potential blockades threatening the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea.

Israel’s Defense Minister Yisrael Katz declared on June 15 that the IDF would remain indefinitely in security zones across Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza. Katz stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had explicitly communicated this decision to U.S. President Donald Trump and other senior American officials.
