On October 11, during his visit to Pyongyang, Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, announced the launch of a new format of joint meetings between the committees on international affairs of the State Duma (DG) and the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK. “We hope that we will launch […] the format of joint meetings of the international affairs committees of the DPRK Parliament and the State Duma. I am sure that we will launch this format in the very near future,” he said in an interview with TASS. Slutsky expressed hope that the implementation of this idea will be completed by the end of 2025, noting that meetings of the parties will be held on a regular basis, potentially leading to a scheduled timetable in the near future.
The republic also indicated readiness to welcome Russian tourists and expand trade volumes. On September 16, the Duma TV portal broadcast the first plenary session of the State Duma deputies in the autumn session, during which they thanked the Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, and the entire Korean people for the “fraternal assistance” provided to the Russian Federation. The footage showed some deputies standing and applauding the leader of the DPRK.
